CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College women's basketball team returns to action this weekend as it hosts a pair of familiar, Gulf South Conference foes. The Lady Choctaws tip-off off the final games before the Christmas break on Saturday, Dec. 15 against in-state foe Delta State University. Tip-off against the Lady Statesmen is set for 2 p.m.

MC wraps up the pre-holiday slate on Monday, Dec. 17 against Christian Brothers University. Tip against the Lady Bucs is slated for 5:30 p.m.
GAME NOTES
• Mississippi College and Delta State meet for the 65th time with DSU holding a 55-9 lead in the series. The Lady Statesmen are riding a three-game win streak in the series. MC's last win in the series came on Dec. 1, 2016 in an 82-77 victory in Clinton.
• Saturday marks the sixth time the two in-state foes have faced each other in the month of December and the second since the Lady Choctaws have rejoined the GSC. The last time the two squads met was Dec. 1, 2016 in Clinton.
• The Lady Choctaws look to snap a three-game skid and earn their first conference win of the season. The Navy and Gold dropped its two GSC contests against Montevallo and West Alabama earlier in the month and fell by 11 to Miles College last Saturday.

Zariah Matthews leads Mississippi College in scoring this season. The Bogue Chitto, Miss., product averages 11.6 points and ranks in the top 15 among scoring leaders in the Gulf South Conference.
• Mississippi College ranks fourth in the GSC in free throw percentage. The Lady Choctaws have connected on 70.7 percent from the charity stripe. MC shot a season-best 84 percent against Lane College on Nov. 13, which ranks fourth in the conference. The Navy and Gold also posted a clip of 82 at Miles College in the season opener - also in the top 10.
• Delta State is riding a six-game, win streak into Clinton on Saturday after claiming a 79-63 win over LeMoyne-Owen College in Walter Sillers Coliseum on Wednesday. The Lady Statesmen's last loss came in a 74-66 decision at Barry University in the GSC/SSC Crossover. DSU opened the season 0-2 with a 70-62 setback against Nova Southeastern in the Crossover.
• Four Lady Statesmen average double figures scoring this season led by Alondrea Rush with 10.4 points. Frederica Haywood (10.3), Quantesha Patterson and Zyaire Ewing (10.0) follow Rush in scoring. Haywood also paces the squad with 9.2 rebounds per game.
• MC's
Paul Allen Duke and DSU's Craig Roden are among the most seasoned head coaches in the GSC. Duke is in his 24th season at the helm of the Lady Choctaws while Roden is in his 29th season as a head coach and his fifth in Cleveland. The Lady Statesmen's head man has led three different programs in the conference, including West Georgia (1996-2010) and two stints at his alma mater West Alabama (1984-87, 2010-14). Montevallo's Gary Van Atta is tied with Roden with 29 seasons as a head coach.
• Monday marks the eighth time in series history that MC and CBU have met on the hardwood. The Lady Bucs hold a 5-2 advantage after splitting last season's meetings between the two schools. MC's 79-67 win in Memphis snapped a four-game skid in the series.
• Christian Brothers enters the weekend slate with a 3-4 record and 0-2 in the conference. CBU is riding a two-game slide with losses at Missouri-St. Louis and Maryville (Mo.) last weekend in St. Louis, Mo. The Lady Bucs travel to Auburn University at Montgomery on Saturday before making the trek to Clinton for the conference clash with the Lady Choctaws.
• Kenzie Jones and Kelsey Adkins pace CBU in scoring this season. Jones leads the team with 15.6 points per game while Adkins ranks second with 14.7 points. Brynne Lytle guides the Red and Black's efforts on the glass with 6.3 rebounds per game. Adkins ranks second on the team in the category with 5.0 boards per contest.
Mississippi College is a private Christian university located in Clinton, Mississippi with an enrollment of over 5,000 students. MC recently finished their transition process back to NCAA Division II and the Gulf South Conference and will be competing for conference and national championships in the 2018-19 academic year.
