CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College volleyball team returns to A.E. Wood Coliseum on Tuesday, Oct. 2 as the Choctaws host Gulf South Conference foe, the University of West Alabama. First serve is set for 6 p.m. The match is first on Choctaws' home floor in 10-plus days and starts a three-game home stand for the squad this week.

WEST ALABAMA SERIES: Mississippi College looks to snap a 10-match skid on Tuesday as it hosts the University of West Alabama. The Tigers hold a 16-4 advantage in the series with the Choctaws last win over the Red and White coming on Aug. 31, 2002. MC claimed the first three meetings in the series.
BREAKING DOWN THE TIGERS: West Alabama enters Tuesday's contest with a 12-5 record and 5-2 in the Gulf South Conference. The Tigers had a four-match win streak snapped on Saturday in a 3-1 loss at Valdosta State. The Red and White are led by Madison Cooler with 210 kills this season. Cooler leads a quartet of four players with 100-plus kills this season. Preseason All-GSC selection Kassie Till directs the Tigers' offense with 624 assists. Bret Luther and Jamie Lancellot has combined for 82 total blocks for UWA this season. West Alabama is tied for fourth in the GSC standings.

Kendall Platt led the Choctaws with eight kills in the match while sophomore
Brandi Bundy led the defensive effort with eight digs.
PLATT SURPASSES 200 KILLS PLATEAU: Freshman
Kendall Platt became the first freshman since 2014 to reach the 200 kill benchmark. The Anaheim, Calif., native surpassed 200 kills on Friday, Sept. 28 at Valdosta State with 16 kills. Platt's 219 kills places her two shy  from reaching the top 10 single-season performances.Â
MAYS SETS SIGHTS ON 500 KILLS: Redshirt junior
Shelby Grace Mays posted 14 kills over the weekend to move within 20 of reaching 500 career kills. The Arab, Ala., native is 30 kills from cracking the top 10 in career kills.Â
YOUTHFUL ABUNDANCE: Mississippi College stands as the third, youngest volleyball team in Division II this season. The Choctaws are the youngest team in the Gulf South Conference barely edging out Union University with five sophomores, two juniors and a senior along with the 11 freshmen. Union has three sophomores, three juniors and two seniors on their squad. Bloomsburg (Pa.) University leads Division II with 23 freshmen following by Tusculum (Tenn.) University has 15 freshmen on their 2018 roster.

CROHN'S AWARENESS MATCH: For the third straight season, the Mississippi College volleyball team will hold its annual Crohn's Awareness Match. This year's date is Saturday, Oct. 6 against the University of Montevallo. Redshirt sophomore
Kaitlyn Wilson was diagnosed with Crohn's during the 2016 campaign - her freshman season in Clinton. The Choctaws will honor individuals battling Crohn's during the match against the Falcons. All fans are asked to wear purple to raise awareness about Crohn's.
Mississippi College is a private Christian university located in Clinton, Mississippi with an enrollment of over 5,000 students. MC recently finished their transition process back to NCAA Division II and the Gulf South Conference and will be competing for conference and national championships in the 2018-19 academic year.
