CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College volleyball team continues its six road swing this week as the Lady Choctaws make a trip William Carey University on Thursday, Sept. 7. First whistle is set for 6 p.m.

FIRST SERVES
The Lady Choctaws and William Carey met for the first time last season in Clinton with MC taking a 3-0 win over the Crusaders. Thursday marks the first time the two squads will meet in Hattiesburg.          
 
Kayana Mitchell moved to sixth all-time in career kills following her efforts Spring Hill College on Tuesday evening. The Southaven, Miss., native has registered 520 kills during her time in Clinton. The senior sets her sights on Megan Deen, who sits fifth in program history with 626 kills.
 
Kayana Mitchell and Shelby Grace Mays tied for tops on the team with nine kills each at Spring Hill on Tuesday. Sydney Chandler totaled 11 assists against the Badgers on Tuesday while Julia Martin recorded 10 digs.
 
Shelby Grace Mays leads the team with 51 kills and 46 digs this season. The junior is averaging 3.0 kills per set and 2.71 digs. The Arab, Ala., native sits tied for tops on the team in total blocks with 10, along with Kayana Mitchell, and also ranks second on the team in service aces with seven.
 
Sydney Chandler paces the squad with eight aces through five matches while the native of Silverhill, Ala., ranks second on the team with 67 assists. Amanda Torres paces the squad with 70 assists. Madison Kimes ranks second on the team with 45 digs.
 
William Carey enters the midweek contest riding a three-match win streak following a 3-1 weekend record at the Running Eagle Classic in Atlanta, Ga. The Crusaders logged wins over Brenau, Bluefield and Indiana University East during the weekend with their lone setback coming against Point to open the Classic. Chassidy Harris leads WCU with 90 kills and 19 blocks on the season while Emma Cotney has 127 digs.
