FIRST SERVES
•   Mississippi College continues its six road swing this week as the Lady Choctaws make trips to Spring Hill College and William Carey University. MC looks for its second win over SHC in program history. The Navy and Gold won the first match against the Badgers on Sept. 7, 2001. SHC has claimed the last four outings between the two schools.

•   Mississippi College posted a 2-2 record to open the season at the UIS Capital Classic. The Lady Choctaws split both days as it claimed wins over Concord (3-1) and Ohio Valley (3-1), but stumbled in straight sets against Lindenwood and the host Prairie Stars.

Shelby Grace Mays posted an impressive weekend for the Lady Choctaws as the Arab, Ala., junior led the team in kills (42) and digs (42) and tied for tops on the team with nine total blocks. Senior
Kayana Mitchell joined Mays with nine blocks.

•   Seven Lady Choctaws made their debuts this weekend. JUCO transfers

Madison Kimes moved up the digs career record book. The St. Louis, Mo, native moved to third all-time with 37 digs at the UIS Capital Classic. The senior has compiled 777 digs in her four seasons at MC.

Kayana Mitchell moved to seventh all-time in career kills following her efforts at the UIS Capital Classic. The Southaven, Miss., product has recorded 511 kills during her four seasons at MC.

•   Spring Hill opens its 2017 slate on Tuesday against the Lady Choctaws. The Badgers lost three of their top six scorers from 2016 to graduation. Eight sophomore and six freshmen help comprise the SHC squad this season.
