CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College volleyball returns to action this weekend as the Lady Choctaws travel to Magnolia, Ark., for the Dr. Margaret Downing Invitational hosted by Southern Arkansas University.
FIRST SERVES
• Mississippi College stands 3-4 on the season after snapping a three-game skid against Loyola (La.). MC dismissed the Wolfpack in straight sets (25-22, 26-24, 25-22). The Lady Choctaws claimed their first win over Loyola in program history en route to securing their first home-opening victory since 2012.

Shelby Grace Mays recorded her fifth, career double-double with 10 kills and 10 digs.
Julia Martin posted a career-high and team-best 13 digs in the win.
• Mays continues to boast a successful junior campaign for the Navy and Gold. The Arab, Ala., native leads the team in kills (71), service aces (15) and digs (66) and ranks second in total blocks (16).
Kayana Mitchell leads the team in total blocks (20) and is second on the team in kills (53).
Sydney Chandler and
Amanda Torres direct the offense. Chandler leads the team with 116 assists while Torres has 96.
• Mays' seven aces against William Carey is tied for tops in a match in the Gulf South Conference while the 84 team digs against Concord is fifth in the conference and 10 aces vs. the Mountain Lions ranks 10th.
• Grambling State enters the weekend with a 2-7 record following a straight sets win over Jarvis Christian College on Tuesday evening. The Tigers are led offensively by Chasity Nicks and Kevreion Ward with 56 and 51 kills respectively. Defensively, Erineka Mollere has totaled 91 digs while Desiree Bishop has 17 total blocks.
• Arkansas-Monticello is 4-4 on the season after dropping its Great American Conference opener at Ouachita Baptist on Tuesday evening in four sets. UAM is paced by Maggie Pyles with 76 kills and 76 digs.
• Texas A&M International enters the weekend riding a four-game losing streak after competing in the Emmanuel College Tournament. The Sundevils dropped straight set matches against fellow Gulf South Conference members Union and UAH. Panebi Shirey leads TAMUI with 66 kills on the season while Lacey Asdourian paces the defense with 90 digs.
• Southern Arkansas is 3-9 on the season and 0-1 in the Great American Conference after falling in straight sets against Arkansas Tech. SAU is led by Seven Powers with 79 kills while Alexia Southern has totaled 77. Defensively, Allie O'Banion has 36 total blocks with Bailey Cagle adding 26.
