CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College baseball team dropped a Saturday doubleheader to the University of North Alabama. MC fell 15-3 in the opener and 7-2 in the night cap. The setback snapped a nine-game win streak for the Choctaws.

Mississippi College and North Alabama close out the series on Sunday, Apr. 9. First pitch is slated for 1 p.m. at Frierson Field at Dickins-Scoper Stadium.

KEY STATS
Game 1
- Chance Whitten and Hunter Austin led MC with multiple hits in the contest with each recording a pair. Whitten also added the lone multi-RBI performance in the outing with a two-run, home run the bottom of the second.
- Five Choctaw hurlers went to the mound in the contest. Hunter Lacefield (3-2) took the loss with 3.0 innings of work in the start as he allowed six runs – four earned – on five hits with two walks and a pair of strikeouts.
- Tyler Joyner (9-1) claimed the complete-game win for UNA as he allowed eight hits and fanned eight in the outing.

Game 2
- Hunter Wilson, Crim, Whitten, Grant Barber and Kyle Smith combined for the five MC hits in the second game while Smith logged the lone RBI.
- Hunter Mullis (3-3) took the setback on the bump despite allowing just one hit in 4.0 frames in the start. Mullis surrendered two runs with three walks in the decision.
- Lane Wallace (3-4) took the win on the hill with 6.1 innings of work in the start. He allowed two runs on five hits with seven strikeouts and a trio of walks.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Game 1
- After Whitten tied the contest at 2-all in the bottom of the second with his eighth home run of the season, UNA responded with four runs in the top of the third headlined by a two-run, single from Brandt Holland.
- The Lions added a run in the fourth and fifth frames to increase the lead to 8-2, but the Navy and Gold got a run back in the bottom of the fifth as Will Elliott scored on a Casey Echols sacrifice fly to right field.
- UNA replied with four runs in the sixth and another three in the eighth to cap the contest.

Game 2
- MC jumped on the scoreboard first with a run in the second as Brandon Broussard scored a Smith single to center field.
- The narrow lead stood until the fifth when the Lions plated three runs sparked by a Ben Cooley home run that deadlocked the contest.
- UNA tacked on four more runs in the seventh to extend the lead to 7-1 led by a two-run, single by Kyle Hubbach to start the scoring.
- MC added a run in the bottom of the seventh as Barber scored on a ground out, but it wasn't enough to rally for the win.
