Women's Basketball Preview: Southern-New Orleans

CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College women's basketball team returns to action on Saturday, Nov. 25 as it hosts Southern University in New Orleans. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m.

NOTES
•             Mississippi College seeks to complete a season sweep of Southern-New Orleans after taking a 74-57 win in New Orleans to open the season. MC holds the series lead at 1-0.
 
•             Saturday's contest is one of the final three non-conference contests for the Navy and Gold. MC has a home-and-home series with Tougaloo remaining on the slate.
 
•             Mississippi College looks to rebound from a 92-45 setback at Arkansas Tech on Tuesday evening. The decision was the first loss of the season for the Lady Choctaws and the third in the series with the Golden Suns.
 
•             Ieisha Lacey recorded a career-high night in points and rebounds at ATU. The Jackson, Miss., native scored a team-best 16 points and grabbed a team-best nine rebounds. Her previous best was 15 points set against SUNO in the season opener while her previous mark of five boards was sest against LeMoyne-Owen last Saturday.
 
•             Moriah Hurst registered her collegiate points in the contest. The Wilmington, Del., native totaled eight points.
 
•             Lauran Sheriff tied a season-best with seven rebounds in the setback. Sheriff recorded seven boards at SUNO to open the season.
 
•             Emery Wilson led MC in its season-opening win at SUNO with her first, collegiate double-double. The Jackson, Miss., native scored 11 points and pulled down 12 rebounds in the victory. Wilson was one of six Lady Choctaws in score in double figures in the contest.
 
•             Ieisha Lacey led the Navy and Gold with 15 points at SUNO while Olivia Mabry poured in 13 points. Lauran Sheriff posted 12 points in her collegiate debut with Zariah Matthews' adding 11 points. Kaitlyn Thompson rounded out the sextet with 10 points.
 
•             A trio of Lady Choctaws average double figures in scoring led by Lacey with 14.7 points per game, which sits in the top 10 in scoring leaders for the Gulf South Conference. Matthews is second on the team with 12.7 follow Wilson with 11 points per outing. Wilson also led the squad in rebounds with 8.0 per contest.
 
•             SUNO comes into the weekend action riding a four-game, losing streak. The Lady Knights fell 78-58 against Loyola (La.) on Tuesday. The Blue and Gold's last win came on Nov. 4 in a 74-61 decision against Concordia College.
 
•             The Lady Knights were led by Briana Upshur with 13 points in the loss to Loyola. Upshur was one of three to score in double-digits for the Blue and Gold. Talaih Robertson scored 11 points followed by Andriel Moss with 10 points.
 
•             Moss leads SUNO with 16.3 points and 11.2 rebounds per game. Kascity Martin averages 12.8 points while Robertson averages 10.5 points per outing.
 
•             Following the Saturday slate, Mississippi College opens GSC action on Thursday, Nov. 30 as it welcomes Union University to A.E. Wood Coliseum. Tip-off against the Bulldogs is set for 5:30 p.m.
