CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College baseball team returns to the diamond on Tuesday, Mar. 1 as it travels to Mobile, Ala., for a midweek, non-conference contest against Spring Hill College. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m.

The Tuesday tilt marks the fifth meeting between in the series between the two schools with SHC (7-6) holding a 3-1 advantage. The two teams split a doubleheader at Frierson Field after the Purple and White captured a twinbill sweep on its home field.
MC (6-7) looks to snap a five-game skid after dropping the Gulf South Conference series against No. 22 West Alabama over the weekend.
Chance Whitten led the squad at the plate batting .455 for the three games. The East Central Community College transfer tied for the team lead in hits with five, including three doubles and a home run, and was second on the team in RBI with three.
On the mound,
Samuel Harrison tossed 7.1 innings in relief as he struck out nine with four runs allowed on eight hits. The freshman hurler leads the team in strikeouts with 22 and is tied with
Jake Fraze with 21.0 innings of work. Senior
Tyler Scholl added a scoreless, 3.0 innings of action in two relief appearances as he scattered two strikeouts, a walk and three hits on the mound.
On the season,
Logan Ferrell and
Hunter Bolin have continued to impress through the first 13 games of the campaign. Both have posted batting averages of .400 or better and compiled 20-plus hits. Ferrell leads the team with a .440 clip and 22 hits while Bolin is batting .404 with 21 hits. The duo is tied for third on the team in RBI with seven each.
Caleb Upton leads the team with 11 RBI while
Toler Robinson ranks second with 10 on the season.
Spring Hill enters the midweek contest having dropped a 3-2 contest last Wednesday against West Florida. Michael Druhan paces the Badgers offensively batting .423 on the season with 22 hits. The junior ranks third on the team in RBI with 12. Alex Jones leads the team with 18 RBI while William Floros is second with 14 runs driven in.
Wesley Parrish leads the team in strikeouts with 20 and is tied for the team lead in innings pitched with 19.2 alongside Dylan Kiene, who ranks third in strikeouts with 11. Christian Bahlinger is second in Ks with 13 on the season through 18.2 frames of work – third most on the team.
Following the midweek outing, Mississippi College continues the road-game road trip with a GSC series at Shorter University this weekend. First pitch of the Saturday, Mar. 5 doubleheader is slated for 2 p.m. The series finale in Rome, Ga., is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Sunday.
