- The Choctaws are 1-0 all-time against AUM, picking up an 82-71 victory on November 26, 1994 in Clinton.
- The Choctaws are 18-2 in their last 20 season openers with the only losses coming in the 2006-07 and 2011-12 seasons.
- MC head coach
Don Lofton is just three wins shy of 200 career victories, going 197-120 (.621) over his 12 seasons at the helm.
- This is MC's first season back in Division II and the Gulf South Conference after completing the transition process in the summer of 2016. The Choctaws' last appearance in the GSC Tournament came in the 1995-96 season.
- Auburn Montgomery is entering their first provisional year transitioning to Division II and the Gulf South Conference.
