CLINTON, Miss --- The Mississippi College men's soccer team will be on the road this weekend for their final two Gulf South Conference matches of the 2016 season. The Choctaws will take on Lee University on Friday, and Shorter University on Sunday.

MC heads into the weekend with an overall record of 9-1-1 on the season, and a GSC record of 7-0 that finds them atop the conference in first place. The Choctaws saw their rank in the latest NSCAA South Region poll on Tuesday climb up to number four, having previously been at number six. MC also received 11 votes in the National Poll. Â Â

The Choctaws last contest saw them defeat the Buccaneers of Christian Brothers University 2-0 on Sunday, Oct. 16, for their eighth straight victory of the season. The win officially clinched the Choctaws a spot in the upcoming GSC Postseason Tournament.

The MC offense goes into the weekend slate averaging 3.09 goals per game, a mark that ranks them first in the conference and 7
th in the nation

Jorge Delgado leads all Choctaws with 19 points and nine goals scored. Delgado's season goal total ranks first in the conference, along with his 0.9 goals per game average.

Jacob Farthing sits in second place behind Delgado with six goals this season, with four game-winning goals that lead all players in the GSC.

Horacio Gutierrez Jr. and
George Fradenburg's four assists apiece pace an offense that is averaging  2.64 assists per contest; a mark leads the conference, while ranking 6th in the country.

In Goal,
Humberto Pelaez has converted 46 out of 56 save opportunities on the season, for a save percentage of just over 82 percent that ranks second in the GSC. Â The junior netminder posts a record of 8-1-1 on the season with five shutouts, which leads all GSC goalies. Pelaez brings a goals against average of 0.97 into the weekend, a mark that ranks him second in the conference. Pelaez recently picked up his conference-leading fourth GSC Defender of the Week Award, having now been the recipient of the award on 9/6, 9/20, 10/4 and 10/18.

The Choctaws bring an all-time record 1-2 versus Lee and a 1-1 mark against Shorter into this weekend's matches. The 2015 campaign saw MC defeat Shorter 3-1 and fall to Lee 1-2 in their last meetings against each team.

Kickoff for Friday's match at Lee is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. CST, and Sundays contest at Shorter is set to begin at 2:30 p.m. CST.
