CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College men's soccer team will host Shorter on Friday and Lee on Sunday at Longabaugh Field with both games set to start at 3:00 p.m.
The Choctaws (2-8-1, 0-4-1 GSC) offense has posted 18 goals on the season led by Junior
Kendall Carballo (San Jose, Costa Rica) with five finishes and four helpers followed by senior
Jorge Delgado (Juarez, Mexico) with four goals. Senior
Ewahia Amhanesi (Mesquite, Texas) has posted two goals with four assists and junior
Conor Corboy (Aptos, Calif.) has put in three goals on the season.
Leading the defense is senior
Josh Barrera (Houston, Texas),
Daniel Lang (Jackson, Miss.),
Perry Goldsbury (Derby, England), and sophomore
Elliot Rimmer (Clinton, Miss.). In goal for the Choctaws is sophomore
Humberto Pelaez (Panama City, Panama) who has posted a 1.45 goals against average, facing 156 shots while making 51 saves with two shutout victories.
In the 2014 season, Shorter (4-6-1, 2-2 GSC) defeated MC 5-1. The Hawks got on the board first as Matt Gross found the back of the net in the third minute of play. The Choctaws came right back as
George Fradenburg scored in the 10th minute to tie the match. After a 15 minute delay the Hawks poured in the goals as Nico Stutley, Charlie Dennis, Irvin Espinal and Richard Conner tallied goals giving Shorter the win 5-1.
Shorter's offense has tallied 20 goals on the season. Charlie Dennis and Darwin Lom have each recorded five goals with one helper apiece. Fernando De Barros and Christopher Cummins have posted three goals apiece. In goal for the Hawks is Austen Trevers with a 1.73 goals against average, facing 138 shots with 48 saves and two shutout victories.
Last season the Choctaws came away with a 4-0 win over Lee (8-2-2, 3-0-1 GSC) as MC scored three goals in a six-minute span in the second half. The Choctaws got on the board early as
Stephen Roberson tallied a goal in the 9th minute. In the second half, beginning in the 51st minute, Rimmer scored followed by two goals from Amhanesi in the 56th and 57th minute to bring the final score to 4-0.
With 26 points to lead the Flames offensive line is David Perez who has recorded 11 goals with four helpers. Quade Marinell follows Perez with five finishes and four helpers on the season. In goal for the Flames is Tom Halsall who has posted a 1.38 goals against average, facing 145 shots with 51 saves and three shutout victories on the season.
