Choctaw Family Remembers Tim “TY” Yancy

CLINTON, Miss. --- Mississippi College Athletics is mourning the passing of longtime staff member and Hall of Famer Tim "TY" Yancy, who died Tuesday evening.

Yancy dedicated more nearly four decades of service to his alma mater. A 1983 graduate of Mississippi College, he spent 36 seasons supporting MC student-athletes, coaches and programs in a variety of roles that helped shape the department.

Best known for his work behind the scenes, Yancy served as equipment coordinator for the football program and oversaw athletic facilities, including Robinson-Hale Stadium. His responsibilities ranged from outfitting teams with equipment and supplies to managing game-day operations. His steady presence and commitment made him a cornerstone of Choctaw athletics.

Yancy's connection to Mississippi College began as a student, when he worked as the football team's equipment manager. That early involvement sparked a lifelong dedication to the Choctaws and their success.

In recognition of his outstanding service, Yancy was inducted into the MC Athletics Hall of Fame in 2015.

"TY served our MC athletics family faithfully for many years," said Director of Athletics Kenny Bizot. "We ask that you keep his family and friends in your prayers during this difficult time."

Tim is survived by his beloved wife, Roseanna (Rose) Yancy; his sons, Christopher Cooley (Leslie) and Michael Cooley (Elizabeth); his cherished grandchildren, Sommer Cooley, Andrew Cooley, Christopher Cooley, and Walter Cooley; and his sister, Deborah Yancy Snider McDowell.

Visitation will be held Saturday, March 28, at Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home in Clinton beginning at 10 a.m., followed by the service at 12 p.m. Burial will take place at 1 p.m. at Lakewood Memorial Park.

Mississippi College Athletics extends its deepest condolences to the Yancy family and all who were impacted by his life and legacy.
