Johnson Earns Weekly Conference Accolade

CLINTON, Miss. --- Alex Johnson earns Gulf South Conference Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Tuesday, March 9.

Johnson hit .400 with five runs, eight RBI and three home runs across four games, posting a .471 on-base percentage and 1.000 slugging percentage. The Albertville, Ala., native highlighted the week with a 4-for-5, two-home run, five-RBI performance against Arkansas-Monticello and added a three-run homer in MC's 9-3 Gulf South Conference win at Auburn Montgomery. He also recorded 17 putouts and one assist in the field without an error.

The senior slugger is the second Choctaw to pick up a weekly award this season, joining Will Langston, who was the conference's freshman of the week on March 3, and the first to grab a player of the week accolade since JT Vance on Apr. 29, 2025.

Johnson ranks 20th in nation in home runs with seven, which is second in the conference, and is sixth in the league in hit by pitch with seven.

MC returns to action on Tuesday, March 9 as it hosts Ouachita Baptist. First pitch is 3 p.m.
