LIVINGSTON, Ala. --- The Mississippi College baseball team scored six unanswered runs as it rallied, 8-3, to the University of West Alabama in non-conference, midweek contest at Tartt Field on Tuesday, March 18. MC improved to 18-9 on the season.
 
The Blue and Gold cranked out eight hits in the outing and capitalized on six walks and four hit batters to claim its third straight win in the series, ninth in Livingston and 22nd all-time.
 
After the Red and White regained the lead in the bottom of the fourth, 
Alex Johnson reclaimed the advantage in the top of the sixth as he singled through the left side, scoring 
Logan Shurden and 
JT Vance. It was one of two hits on the day for the Albertville, Ala., product and his second multiple-hit and third multi-RBI performance of the season.
 
The Choctaws followed with a four spot in the top of the seventh headlined by a Shuden two-run, single up the middle. The West Monroe's, La., native's hit was sandwiched by Vance run-scoring single and a 
Jordan Evans' run-producing, hit-by-pitch.
 
Dylan Cope (2-0) picked up the win on the mound as he was one of eight hurlers to see action. Cope tossed 1.1 scoreless frames, allowing a hit and a walk. The pitching staff combined for seven strikeouts in the contest and allowed seven hits.
 
UWA started the scoring with two runs in the third on a Joe Watkins'. The Choctaws evened the score in the top of the fourth as it plated its first runs of the game. Vance, who made his 100th consecutive start, scored on a 
Tyler Jacobsen sacrifice fly to left field. 
Cade Gadman drew the contest even with a double to left, pushing Shurden across the dish.
 
Davis Ghaston (0-1) picked up the loss on the mound for the Tigers, allowing two runs in a third of an inning in relief. UWA sent seven pitchers to the bump in the decision. Watkins paced the Red and White at the plate with two hits and two RBI.
 
Mississippi College returns to action on Friday, March 21 as it hosts Trevecca Nazarene University in a three-game, GSC series. First pitch of the series opener is 3 p.m.
