JACKSON, Tenn. --- The Mississippi College baseball team dominated its doubleheader at Union University on Saturday, March 1 as it dominated their doubleheader winning the first game 8-4 and closing out the series with a 10-1 victory.
 
After falling behind 3-0 early in the opening game of the day, MC stormed back, outscoring the Bulldogs 8-1 over the final six innings. MC added one in the fifth, tacked on two more in the top of the sixth to knot the contest. After Union plated its final run of the game in the bottom half of the sixth, regaining the lead, the Blue and Gold responded with three runs in the seventh and never look back. 
Korey Cooper placed the exclamation point on the contest with a two-run single up the middle in the eighth to cap the scoring.
 
JT Vance paced the squad with a two-hit performance in the game and drove in two runs, matching Cooper with a two RBI effort. 
Jordan Evans added the lone extra-base hit of the contest for the Choctaws with a triple to lead off the sixth inning.
 
The Choctaws' bullpen, led by winning pitcher 
Gabe Garner, who pitched 3.2, scoreless innings, shut down Union's offense late. Garner allowed two hits and fanned two, picking up his second victory of the season.
 
In the finale, MC's offense continued to shine, racking up 12 hits, as it posted nine unanswered runs over the final five frames. 
Logan Shurden led the charge with three hits, while 
Cade Gadman, 
Bryce LaRocca and 
Beau Kirsch each drove in two runs.
 
After deadlocked at a run each in the through two innings, the Choctaws broke the game open with a four-run, third inning, taking a 5-1 advantage, and never looked back. They would add three in the fifth inning and a run in the sixth and seventh to clinch the series.
 
Blake Gollott (2-0) earned the win with four innings in the start as he fanned three and allowed one run on two hits. 
Coby Gollott (1) closed out the final three innings for the save, as he equaled his cousin's strikeout total and allowed one hit.
 
Mississippi College, which improved to 9-8 on the season and 5-4 in Gulf South Conference action, returns home on Tuesday, March 4 as it hosts the University of Arkansas at Monticello. First pitch at 2 p.m.
