JACKSON, Tenn. --- The Mississippi College baseball team fell, 7-3, in the series opener at Union University on Friday, Feb. 28. Both teams move to 7-8 on the season. UU improves to 2-4 in the conference while the Choctaws move to 3-4.

Korey Cooper paced the Blue and Gold with two of the teams' six hits as he drove in two of the three runs. The Dickinson, Texas, native also logged one MC's two extra-base hits with a double in the eighth inning to plated the third run of the game. Blaise Breerwood doubled in the top of the eighth, later becoming the run.

Holland Townes (0-4) struck out six in five innings. He allowed seven runs on eight hits with two walks in the start. Kyle Collet threw three innings of scoreless baseball in relief. He limited the Bulldogs to one hit alongside three strikeouts and one walk.

MC held a 2-1 advantage heading in the bottom of the third. Cooper and JT Vance supplied back-to-back RBI singles in the top of the inning to gain the upperhand. However, both were left stranded, as the pair of run scoring singles came with two outs.

After Grant Ross tied the contest at 2-all, Carson Chavies delivered a three-run home run down the right field line to place the Bulldogs back in front for the first time since the first inning. The three-run margin stood until the bottom of the sixth when Canyon Pace drove in two runs with a single to left center.

Eli Snelson (2-2) picked up the victory on the hill, going all nine frames. He notched six strikeouts and allowed no free passes to the Blue and Gold bats.
