VALDOSTA, Ga. --- Mississippi College men's basketball put No. 6 Valdosta State on upset alert Saturday, leading at halftime, but a dominant second half from the Blazers proved too much as the Choctaws fell 80-68 at The Complex.
Mississippi College (8-17, 4-15 GSC) held a 28-25 advantage at the break, but Valdosta State (20-4, 15-3 GSC) erupted for 55 second-half points to secure the win.
Rashad Bolden led the Choctaws with a game-high 29 points, knocking down five three-pointers while shooting 10-of-30 from the field. Tremaine Dixon added 11 points, going 3-of-5 from deep, while Tyshun Briscoe and Judah Land each contributed 10 points.
The Choctaws shot 34.5% in the first half but held the Blazers to just 31.3%. However, Valdosta State flipped the script in the second half, shooting 63.9% from the field to pull away.
Carlos Hart paced the Blazers with 21 points and seven rebounds, while Maalik Leitch added 20 points off the bench.
Mississippi College returns home on Thursday to face Trevecca Nazarene at 7:30 p.m. inside A.E. Wood Coliseum.
