TAHLEQUAH, Okla. — Mississippi College fell to Northeastern St. 86-68 at the NSU Event Center on Saturday. Mississippi Col. was led by their bench, which contributed 27 points in the contest.
Northeastern State took control early in the first half, opening with a 6-0 run highlighted by Xavier Glenn's dunk, assisted by Taven Washington. Mississippi Col. faced challenges with turnovers, allowing Northeastern State to extend their lead. Johnson kept the Choctaws close with a timely three-pointer at 12:42, cutting the deficit to four points. Despite efforts from Nelson, who contributed with a layup and free throws, Northeastern State maintained a lead, closing the half ahead 39-33.
Northeastern State capitalized on a strong offensive performance in the second half to secure an 86-68 victory over MC. The home team extended their lead with a series of key plays, including a 3-pointer by Washington at the 16:47 mark and a layup by Nehemiah Weber at 5:43, which was part of a fast-break sequence. The Blue and Gold's Nelson contributed a notable three-pointer at 8:53, but the visitors struggled to close the gap. Ethan Blackmon sealed the win for Northeastern State with a layup and subsequent free throws in the final two minutes.
