Tennis Shines with Multiple Finals Appearances at GSC Individual Championships

LIVINGSTON, Ala. --- Mississippi College tennis produced one of the strongest overall showings in the Gulf South Conference this weekend, earning multiple finalists and champions at the GSC Individual Tennis Championships hosted in Livingston, Alabama. While not a traditional team championship event, the tournament showcased individual and doubles talent across the league — and no program had more depth on display than the Choctaws.

MC was the only university in the GSC to advance two top-flight women's singles players into the semifinals. Emily Buchanan and Rocio Martinez both battled into the final four before falling in tight matches to Auburn Montgomery and West Florida, respectively.

The Choctaws also stood alone as the only program in the conference to reach the doubles finals in both women's flights. Buchanan teamed with Ann Cabot Stockett to finish runner-up in the top-flight doubles championship following a narrow defeat to West Alabama. In the second doubles flight, Anna Hudson and Molly Bennett brought home the conference title, defeating the field for the individual GSC championship.

Hudson highlighted the weekend with a dominant performance, earning two GSC individual titles — winning the Flight Two singles championship before pairing with Bennett to secure the Flight Two doubles crown. Bennett, a junior college transfer, captured her first conference title in her debut appearance with the program.

Freshman Mariana Munoz continued MC's winning trend, bringing home the Flight Three singles title in her first GSC postseason competition.

Stockett will return to the court Monday as she continues her run in the Flight Two singles consolation final, advancing after back-to-back third-set tiebreak victories

On the men's side, the Choctaws added two more top finishes. Sergio Ramirez advanced to the top-flight consolation final, finishing as runner-up after a hard-fought tiebreak against West Florida. Charles Lefort claimed the consolation title in Flight Four singles, closing out the weekend with a championship win.
