MONTEVALLO, Ala. --- The Mississippi College women's basketball team used a third-period surge to pass the University of Montevallo on Thursday, Jan. 30, 78-52, on the Montevallo campus. MC improves to 11-9 on the season and 7-7 in Gulf South Conference action.

Alexis Rowe paced the Choctaws as she garnered the third double-double of the season for the Blue and Gold with a team-best 15 points and 10 rebounds, including eight defensive boards. The double-digit rebounding effort is the fourth for a Choctaw this season. The double-double is the first since Nov. 9, 2024 when
Amelia Bell and
Tytiana Buckley accomplished the feat against Lane College.

Tytiana Buckley added 12 points each while
Keller Bigham rounded out the quartet with 10 points. It is the 15th double-digit scoring effort of the season for Abron, Buckley's 14th and the sixth for Bigham

MC held a seven-point lead at the intermission, but powered through in the third quarter as it outscored the Falcons 20-5 on their home floor. The Choctaws spread the scoring around in the period as six different players chimed in points with Bigham leading the way with six points. The Blue and Gold dominated in the paint, outscoring UM 10-2 and turned six turnovers into nine points. The Choctaws added a second 20-point quarter in the fourth to run away in the contest, besting the Purple and Gold 43-24 in the second half.

The Blue and Gold, which never trailed in the contest, posted its second largest scoring margin of the season and best in conference play, topping its 24-point victory over Christian Brothers University last weekend. The Choctaws held their largest lead of the game, 35 points, with 5:27 left to play on a 3-pointer from
Ava Craddock - one of 10 knocked down on the night. It was the second most this season for the squad, trailing the total set (12) against Belhaven University.

The victory marks the third straight in the series for the Choctaws and its fourth in program history on the Falcons' home floor.

Mississippi College returns to action on Saturday, Feb. 1 as it continues its Alabama road swing, facing Auburn University at Montgomery. Tip-off is 2 p.m.
