Choctaws Fall to Delta State in GSC Rivalry Matchup

CLEVELAND, Miss. --- Mississippi College dropped a hard-fought Gulf South Conference road game on Saturday, falling 62-54 to in-state rival Delta State at Walter Sillers Coliseum.

Rashad Bolden led the Choctaws (6-11, 2-9 GSC) with 19 points and eight rebounds, connecting on 4-of-9 from beyond the arc. Despite a second-half push in which Mississippi College shot 52% from the field, they were unable to overcome a nine-point halftime deficit.

Delta State (7-10, 3-8 GSC) was paced by Chris Terrell, who scored a game-high 20 points on 9-of-16 shooting. Kolby Horace added 18 points and four rebounds, hitting 4-of-11 from three-point range. The Statesmen held a slim edge on the boards, out-rebounding the Choctaws 29-27.

Mississippi College struggled in the first half, shooting just 32.3% from the field and going 1-of-7 from three-point range. The Choctaws improved in the second half, with Tremaine Dixon contributing 10 points and two three-pointers, while Amari George provided a spark off the bench with 10 points on 5-of-6 shooting. Judah Land pulled down a team-high 11 rebounds to go along with six points.

Delta State made key shots down the stretch, shooting 41.2% from beyond the arc in the second half and going a perfect 2-of-2 from the free-throw line. Keithean Brooks added 11 points for the Statesmen, including two three-pointers.

Mississippi College will look to bounce back at home on Thursday when they host Union University in the A.E. Wood Coliseum. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. CST in Clinton, Miss.
