Tennis Splits With UWA On Senior Day

CLINTON, Miss. --- Mississippi College tennis teams celebrated Senior Day in a mixed bag of results against West Alabama, with the women's team narrowly falling 4-3 while the men's team dominated with a 6-1 victory at the MC Tennis Complex in Clinton, Miss.

In a tightly contested women's match, West Alabama's doubles teams secured two out of three victories. However, Ely Alas and Fernanda Cota managed to secure a win in the first doubles match, giving the home team a fighting chance heading into singles play.

Despite a strong effort from Roberts, who secured a singles victory for Mississippi College, West Alabama managed to clinch four out of six singles matches, ultimately sealing their victory over the Lady Choctaws.

On the men's side, Mississippi College came out swinging, sweeping all three doubles matches against West Alabama. Rafael Sabio, Alex Benichou Blanchard, and Alvaro Saint Martin led the charge, setting a strong foundation for the match.

In singles play, Mississippi College continued their dominance, winning five out of six matches. Standout performances from Benichou Blanchard, Saint Martin, and Joe Jarvis secured the victory for the Choctaws.

With the regular season now concluded, both the men's and women's teams will shift their focus to the upcoming Gulf South Conference Tournament, set to take place next weekend in Montgomery, Alabama.

As they gear up for postseason action, the Choctaws will look to carry the momentum from Senior Day into their quest for a GSC championship.
