The Mississippi College baseball team (18-20, 9-15 GSC) defeated Christian Brothers (14-27, 6-21 GSC) in both games of the doubleheader by scores of 14-3 and 14-4, respectively, on April 13^th, 2024.
           In game 1, the Choctaws quickly jumped on the Buccaneers as a double by Blaise Breerwood in the first at bat of the day followed by a Buccaneer error and a Cole Drake RBI single made it 2-0 after just one inning. MC would go on to score 10 runs in the next three innings, while only giving up two defensively. The Blue and Gold offense amassed 14 hits in the first game of the doubleheader, cruising to the win.
            Every batter in the Choctaws' lineup recorded a hit in the game and all but two made their way around the bags. The trio of Drake, JT Vance, and Caleb Reese all had a three-RBI, multi-hit game and was the first trio to do this since April 8^th, 2023, in a 17-8 win over Union. Beau Kirsch also hit his first home run as a Choctaw in the second inning. Cooper Gadman went the distance on the mound for MC, only giving up two runs and five hits to go along with his seven strikeouts and not allowing a walk.
            In game 2, Vance delivered a double down the left field line to score both Reese and Breerwood for MC to jump to a quick 2-0. His hit was the first two of four total RBIs Vance had in the final game of the series with the others coming from a two-run homer in the sixth and his 13^th on the year. Bryce LaRocca also chipped in three RBIs as Korey Cooper also had a good day at the plate with his two doubles on his 3-4 at the plate and 2 RBIs.
            On the mound for MC, Jack Bell gets his second win of the season after giving up 4 runs to go along with his seven strikeouts in 5.2 innings. Michael Sutton then slammed the door shut in relief after only giving up a lone hit in 1.1 innings to clinch the series for MC. All but one Choctaw starter recorded a hit in game two as the Choctaw offense put up 39 total runs in the three-game series. It was the most total runs in a conference series since March 28-29^th of 2021 when the offense scored 49 runs in the series against Union.
   The Choctaws next take the field on Tuesday, April 16^th for a lone nonconference matchup at the Muleriders of Southern Arkansas, who has already defeated MC this season. First pitch in Magnolia is set for 3 p.m. CT.
