CLEVELAND, Tenn. --- Lydia Paulette broke the Mississippi College volleyball career kill record as the Choctaw fell in straight sets at Lee University on Thursday, Oct. 31 in Cleveland, Tenn. MC moved to 12-11 on the season and 10-5 in Gulf South Conference play.

With her fourth kill in the opening set, the Tuscaloosa, Ala., native moved past former Choctaw
Kendall Platt to take over the top spot. The kill also placed the Choctaw up 12-11 in the frame. Paulette finished the contest with a team-best 14 kills and holds the career mark at 1,281 and counting.

Mary Grace Foster finished second on the team with eight kills.
Ali Wiggins secured her 10th match with 20-plus assists this season and the 27th of her career as she tallied 21 in the decision.
Caylin Pixley added 16 dimes. Foster,
Julia Sumrall and
Rhaia Davey tallied two blocks each while
Samarin Kipple tallied 11 digs on the defensive end.

The setback snapped the Choctaws' seven-match win streak in the series.

Paulette delivered her seventh kill in the opening set to give the Blue and Gold a 23-22 advantage, but the Flames responded with three straight points to capture the victory. After LU claimed the second frame, 25-16, it rode the momentum into the third frame, grabbing a 4-0 lead. MC rallied and tied the contest midway through the frame at 16-all and then grabbed a 17-16 lead following a
Meg Paparella kill.

However, the Flames responded with a 5-0 run and never looked back. The Blue and Gold attempted a late rally and looked to send the match to a fourth set as it strung together a 4-0 spurt, holding off match-point, but the Payton Danley delivered the final point of the contest off a feed from Berra Soyler. Paulette and Foster each provided a kill during the final pus while Davey and Foster teamed up for a block assist as well.

Mississippi College returns to action on Friday, Nov. 1 as it travels to the Music City for a clash at Trevecca Nazarene University. It is the first contest between the two schools in Nashville and the fourth in the series. MC holds the advantage at 3-0, including a four-set victory in Clinton earlier this season. First serve is 6 p.m.
