Memphis, Tenn —- The Mississippi College women's basketball defeated Christian Brothers University 61-46 Monday night at Canale Arena.
Amelia Bell scored a career-high 30 points and grabbed a season-best 12 rebounds to go with it. Her previous career high also came against CBU earlier this season when she put up 19 points and 11 rebounds, her previous season high. It was the most points in a single game since Kristen Sampson, who had 32 points against North Alabama on January 4, 2016.
Kyiah Julian was the only other Choctaw to score in double figures, putting up 12 points with four rebounds and three assists.
Sky Vaughn had eight points and five rebounds, Karly Ivy had six points and eight rebounds, Nia Coleman and Mya Bobo each scored two points, and Brylee Faith Cherry had one.
The Choctaw dominated the boards, winning the rebounding battle 53-26. 53 is their highest rebounding total since November 23, 2021, when they grabbed 54 during a 64-51 win over Lane.
The Blue and Gold were also the more efficient team from the floor shooting 34.9 percent, compared to 31.5 from the Lady Bucs. MC went 3-1 from three-point range and 14-18 at the charity stripe. Despite their 21 turnovers the Lady Choctaws also dished 11 assists.
Kallie Searcy led the Lady Bucs in scoring and rebounding with 14 points and six assists. CBU shot 3-6 from outside the arc and 9-14 at the free-throw line.
The Lady Choctaws will be back in action on Thursday, February 1, 2024, at 5:30 PM CT at Auburn Montgomery.
