TOUGALOO, Miss. --- The Mississippi College women's basketball team fell 77-38 to No. 15 Valdosta University on Saturday, Jan. 27. MC moved to 6-11 on the season and 5-9 in Gulf South Conference play. The Blazers improved to 18-2 and 15-1 in the league.

Nia Coleman led the Choctaws with nine points while
Amelia Bell added eight points.
Karly Ivy paced the squad on the glass with six rebounds. The Blue and Gold struggled from the field at 29.8 percent, but was 5-for-13 from the 3-point line for a 38.5 clip. MC attained 23 rebounds.

Aleisha Curry led the Blazers with 19 points while India Jordan provided 10 points. Victoria Ikenasio pulled down a team-best eight rebounds as the squad gathered 43 in the contest. VSU shot 48.2 percent, including a 40.0 clip from behind the arc. They were also 15-for-18 from the charity stripe.

The Red and Black, which held the advantage for nearly 37 minutes of the 40 minutes of contest, outscored the Choctaws 18-10 after the first period and increased its margin as the two teams headed into the locker room, holding a 37-20 lead at the intermission.

VSU kept applying pressure in the second half and reached its largest lead with just under four minutes left to play, 75-35, on a layup by Erin Whalen.

Mississippi College returns to action on Monday, Jan. 29 as it travels to Memphis, Tenn., to face Christian Brothers University. The Choctaws look for the regular-season sweep of the Red and Black. Tip-off is at 5 p.m., at Canale Arena.
