JACKSON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College women's basketball team fell 67-54 in Gulf South Conference action to the University of West Florida on Thursday, Jan. 25. MC fell to 6-10 on the season and 5-9 in league play. The Argonauts improved to 12-6 and 9-5 in the conference.

Kyiah Julian paced the squad with a season-high 18 points and pulled down a team-best seven rebounds. The point total surpassed her previous high of 16 points against West Georgia on Jan. 13 while the boards matched her season-best set against Shorter on Dec. 31.

Nia Coleman and
Amelia Bell added 12 points each. The point total equaled a season-high for Coleman, who tallied 12 against Lee University on Jan. 2.

MC shot 33.3 percent from the field, including a 53.8 clip from the 3-point line, and was 17-for-23 from the free-throw line for 73.9 percent. The squad grabbed 33 rebounds in the setback.

The Choctaws held a 16-12 lead following the opening 10 minutes and maintained a slim advantage at the intermission, 27-25. MC grabbed its largest lead of the game during the second stanza as
Sky Vaughn knocked down the front-end of a pair of free throws.

MC held its margin until Tyashia Bostick scored on a layup with 2:36 remaining the third period. The lead was the first for visitors from the Sunshine State since the 1:57 mark of the first. The Argos lead grew to 11 points over the next two minutes as Ally Alford knocked down a 3-pointer. Alford finished with 10 points, one of two Argos in double-digits.

The Blue and Gold clipped the deficit to single digits as Bell drained her third, 3-pointer of the season at the 7:33 mark. However, the lead moved back to double figures as Bostick knocked down a trey of her own on the following Argos' possession. The lead swelled to 17 points, the largest of the game for the Blue and Green, with 5:28 left to play as Moriah Taylor popped a 3-pointer.

Brooke Kane led the Argos with 21 points 8 rebounds. UWF shot 44.9 from the floor, including a 42.1 clip from behind the 3-point arc. The Blue and Green was 15-of-20 from the charity stripe for 75.0 percent. They pulled down 31 rebounds as a team.

Mississippi College returns to action on Saturday, Jan. 27 as it faces Valdosta State University inside the Owens Health and Wellness Center on the campus of Tougaloo College. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m.
