CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College women's basketball team picked up its third straight win as it topped the University of West Georgia, 71-66, on Saturday, Jan. 13 inside A.E. Wood Coliseum. The Choctaws improve to 6-8 on the season and 5-6 in Gulf South Conference action. UWG falls to 10-6 and 6-6 in the league.

In a game that saw eight lead changes and seven stalemates, the Choctaws held a 32-26 advantage at the intermission. Â
The two squads exchanged buckets and leads over the first six-plus minutes of the fourth, but layup from Bell with three minutes remaining placed the Choctaws in the lead and the squad never relinquished the advantage the remainder of the way. MC hit 8 of its last 10 free throws to ice the contest and hand the Wolves their last loss in the regular season in A.E. Wood Coliseum.
Â
Zuriyah Davis led the Red and Blue with 24 points and seven rebounds. UWG shot 43.4 percent from the floor in the game and totaled 27 boards.
Â
Mississippi College returns to action on Thursday, Jan. 18 as it travels to Memphis, Tenn., for a conference tilt against Christian Brothers University. MC looks for the regular-season sweep of the Buccaneers. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. in Canale Arena.
