MILLINGTON, Tenn. --- The Mississippi College women's golf team opened its fall season winning the 2023 Lee and Joe Duncan Invitational at the Mirimichi Golf Club in Millington, Tenn., on Tuesday, Sept. 19. The Choctaws finished with a three-round total of 885.
 
The Blue and Gold bested host Rhodes College, which finished second, by six strokes. MC shot a 293 in the final to take the event win.
 
MC's Sarah Hodson finished second overall as she shot a 74 in the final round. She finished the event with an overall score of 215 after shooting a 71 in the opening round and 70 in the second round on Monday, Sept. 18.
 
Ida Lundh finished tied for seventh as she shot a 73 in the final round. It marked her second-best round of the two days. She shot a 68 in her first collegiate round and followed with an 80 in the second. She finished with a three-round total of 221 – missing the top five individuals by a stroke. Hannah Hinckley matched her second-round total and finished with a 223 for the three rounds. She shot a 77 to open the event and followed with back-to-back 73s.
 
Jenna Belton finished tied at 17th after shooting an 81 in the final round. She finished the two-day event with a 235 (74-80-81). Fran Herrera wrapped up the scoring members for the Choctaws as she finished tied for 20th with a score of 237. She shot her best round of the tournament with a 73 in the final round (85-79-73).
 
Piedmont University's Erin Donovan took the individual title with a 211 (71-71-69) with Rhodes' Ava Bankston finished third with a 217 (73-72-72).
 
Huntingdon College finished third among teams with a 901 for the three rounds.
 
Mississippi College returns to action on Monday, Oct. 2 as it competes in the Golfweek Division II Invitational in San Destin, Fla.
