CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College tennis programs knocked off Alcorn State on Wednesday with the men winning 5-2 while the women won in straight sets, 7-0.

Rafael Sabio defeated Dakota Fernandez/Isaac Santitto 6-1 in #1 singles play before Alcorn took courts #2 and #3 to take 1-0 lead.
In singles, MC took five of the six courts withÂ
Alvaro Saint Martin winning 6-0, 6-0 at #1 singles, Sabio winning 6-5 at court #2, Iser winning 3-0 at #4, while
Brady McDaniel took the win at #5 singles, 6-2, 6-3.Â
Matias Ballatore wrapped up the Choctaws win, defeating Isaac Santitto, 6-2, 6-0 on court 6. MC improved 5-2 overall with the win.
On the women's side,Â
Ely Alas/Fernanda Cota won 7-0 (1) at #1 doubles withÂ

Maria Rodriguez won 6-1 at #2 doubles over Gabriela Marin / Viktoria Grigoreva. The Lady Choctaws took a 1-0 lead after the doubles win.

Maria Rodriguez won 6-3 at #2 doubles, giving MC the 1-0 advantage.
Ely Alas took the win at #1 singles 6-3, 6-3 against Aizat Zholdakayeva before getting wins fromÂ

Fernanda Cota (6-0, 6-3) at #3 singles, and
Gabrielle Geolier (6-1) at #4 singles.
Anna Valiaeva (6-3, 6-1) and Anna Hudson (6-4, 6-0) closed out the sweep for the Lady Choctaws with wins at #5 and #6 singles.
The Lady Choctaws improved to 7-1 with the win. Both programs return to action on on Saturday, March 4, on the road at St. Mary's. They will take the court at 2:30 p.m. in Tyler, Texas for a neutral site match on the campus of UT Tyler.
