CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College women's basketball team fell 61-38 in Gulf South Conference action to 23rd ranked Lee University on Thursday, Feb. 9 inside A.E. Wood Coliseum.

MC (5-19, 4-17 GSC) was led by
Dezirae King with nine points.
Carley Hudspeth and
Brett Gardner each added to eight points to finish tied for second on the team in column. Hudspeth tied for tops on the team in rebounds with five as she joined
Taylor Ben.

The Choctaw connected on 9-for-11 from the charity stripe for 81.8 percent, but struggled from the field as it connected on just 27.1 percent. They grabbed 31 rebounds in the contest.

LU (19-4, 17-2 GSC) opened the contest with a 13-0 run – its largest run of the game - and never looked back in the contest. The Choctaw best scoring run came over a less than two-minute span as King recorded six points and
Karly Ivy added two for an 8-0 spurt in the second stanza.

Mallory Hampton paced a trio of Lady Flames in double figures with 16 points while Haley Schubert grabbed a team-best eight boards. LU shot 40.7 percent from the floor despite struggling from the 3-point line with a 11.1 clip. It shot 75.0 percent from the free-throw line and pulled down 38 boards.

Mississippi College returns to action on Saturday, Feb. 11 as it hosts Shorter University. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m.
