CLINTON, Miss. ---- Mississippi College tennis continues to impress in 2023, completing their second sweep of the weekend as the men defeated CBU 4-0, while the women won 4-1.

Felipe Iser / Rafael Sabio defeated Alban Piranda / Juan Ycaza [CBU] 6-3 in #1 doubles with Alvaro Saint Martin / Hsiang Wang winning at #2 doubles against Javier Flores / Ignacio Mora, 6-4.

Matias Ballatore / Walker Ellis got the win at #3 double over Jose Villacis / Seth Macute, 6-1, to sweep the doubles courts, on their way to taking a 1-0 lead.

In singles play, Rafael Sabio beat Alban Piranda 6-2, 6-4 in #1 singles, with Joe Jarvis taking down Juan Ycaza at #2 doubles. At #6 singles, Matias Ballatore won 6-1, 6-0 over Pedro Gomez, as MC took the 4-1 win, moving to 4-2 overall on the season and 2-0 in GSC play.

Emma Roberts/Gabrielle Geolier won #1 doubles 6-4, over Chelsea Dzenga / Ellie Hire, while Elena Roberts/Maria Rodriguez won 6-1 at #2 doubles over Gabriela Marin / Viktoria Grigoreva. The Lady Choctaws took a 1-0 lead after the doubles win.

Ely Alas took the win at #1 singles 6-3, 6-4 against Beatriz Costa with Emma Roberts winning at #2 singles 6-0, 7-6. Fernanda Cota won (6-1, 6-2) over Fleur Verkuijl as the Lady Choctaws defeated the Lady Bucs 4-0.

MC improved to 6-0 with the win and 2-0 in GSC play. The men return to action on March 1 at home versus Alcorn State beginning at 2 p.m. while the women return on Monday at McNeese at 1 p.m. Read Full Article
