MAGNOLIA, Ark. --- Mississippi College tennis once again split their matchups with the Lady Choctaws defeating Southern Arkansas 4-2 while the men fell 2-4 versus #21 SAU on Sunday evening.
On the women's side,
Ely Alas/
Fernanda Cota won #1 doubles 6-2 while
Anna Valiaeva/
Anna Hudson defeated Roy/Serpukhova 6-4 at #3 doubles, as MC took the 1-0 lead in the match.
In singles play, MC won courts 1, 4, and 6, with
Ely Alas taking #1 singles (7-5, 6-3) as
Gabrielle Geolier won #4 singles (6-2, 6-7, 7-5), and
Anna Hudson winning #6 singles (6-1, 6-3).
On the men's side,
Joe Jarvis and
Antoine Nivault won #3 doubles, 6-3, over Southern Arkansas, yet SAU took courts one and two on their way to claiming a 1-0 lead over the Choctaws.
Jarvis and Nivault also took the Choctaws lone two singles wins on Sunday with Jarvis winning #3 singles (6-1, 7-5) while Nivault took the win at #4 singles (6-4, 6-4).
The Lady Choctaws move to 3-0 overall on the season with Sunday's win while the men take a step back to 1-2 overall on the season.
Both programs return to the court to take on Harding University Monday morning at 10 a.m. in Searcy, Ark.
