CLINTON, Miss. -- It did not take long for Mississippi College men's and women's tennis to get into the win column to begin the season as the Lady Choctaws defeated the 2022 SWAC Champion Jackson State Lady Tigers 6-1 while the men won 4-3 over the weekend.
On the women's side, MC improved to 1-0 on the season after winning five of six singles courts while picking up the win in doubles play.

Anna Hudson defeated the Lady Tigers No.1 and No. 2 doubles team to pick up the ealt 1-0 lead.
In singles play, Alas won No. 1 singles while Cota won No.2 singles (3-6, 6-2, 6-4) and Geolier punching the win at No. 3 singles (6-1, 4-6, 6-2).
Hudson (6-2, 6-1) and
Maria Rodriguez (6-3, 7-6) each won at No. 4 and No. 5 singles as MC picked up the over JSU.
On the men's side, MC jumped out to a 1-0 advantage after winning No. 1 (
Rafael Sabio/
Felipe Iser, 6-2) and No. 3 (
Antoine Nivault/
Matias Ballatore, 6-2) won their respective courts.
Alvaro Saint Martin captured the No. 1 singles match (7-5, 4-6, 6-3) while Nivault (6-3, 6-2) and Iser (6-4, 6-0) went on to win No. 3 and No. 4 singles play, as the men outlasted JSU by a final of 4-3.
The Choctaws and Lady Choctaws improved to 1-0 on the season with the win. Both teams return to action on Saturday, February 18th, with the women playing against Henderson State at 10:30 a.m. on the road in Arkadelphia, Ark., while the men play against Ouachita Baptist at 1:30 p.m. in Arkadelphia, Ark.
