CLINTON, Miss. --- Mississippi College started off GSC play on Saturday evening with a 78-71 home win over Union to move to 1-0 in conference play.
Mississippi College (2-2, 1-0 GSC) trailed 32-30 at the break before outscoring the Bulldogs 48-39 in the second half.Â
In the second half, Mississippi College took charge of the game with a crucial 12-0 run when the score was tied at 43-43. This dominant stretch propelled the Choctaws to a commanding 55-43 lead, with 10:48 left on the clock.Â
Down the stretch, Rashad Bolden connected on a three-pointer that extended the MC lead to 72-64 before knocking down several free throws that helped secure a 78-71 victory for Mississippi College.
The Choctaws finished with four 10+ scorers on the night with
Cam Brown tallying 14 points, while
Eric Fleming has 12 points and
Gabe Johnson finishing with 10 points.Â
MC was led by
Rashad Bolden who was 11-for-20 from the field with a team best 35 points on the night. Bolden's night was a season high in his Choctaws debut season.
As a team, MC was 27-of-49 from the field with six made three pointers. They had 22 points in the paint with 22 points off of the bench.Â
The Choctaws open up GSC play with the win and improve to 2-2 overall and 1-0 in the conference. They return to action on Monday at home where they tip-off at 7:30 pm with Christian Brothers at A.E. Wood Coliseum.
