JACKSON, Miss --- In a Tuesday night matchup at Tougaloo College, the Mississippi College Choctaws fell short to the Tougaloo Bulldogs with a final score of 73-67.
In the first half, Rashad Bolden's early 2-point field goal and Lucas Heflen's timely 3-point jump shot at 18:01 gave the Choctaws the initial lead. Judah Land and Eric Fleming contributed with key plays however, Andre' Brunt's 3-point jump shot at 06:05, shifted the momentum back towards the home team.
The first half concluded with Rashad Bolden's last-second 2-point field goal at 00:03, leaving the Choctaws trailing 35-30. Coming out of the break, the Choctaws used an early second half 21-4 run to propel them to a 51-39 lead with 13:17 left in regulation.
Despite the Choctaws' efforts, Tougaloo made a comeback, seizing the lead at 62-61 with over six minutes remaining. The Bulldogs closed out the game with a 12-5 run, securing the victory.
Rashad Bolden delivered a standout performance for MC, leading the team with 26 points, 3 assists, and 2 steals in 40 minutes on the court. Lucas Heflen showcased his sharpshooting skills, contributing 15 points with a 5-of-8 performance from beyond the arc. Eric Fleming made significant contributions with 10 points and 6 rebounds.
Mississippi College will return home to A.E. Wood Coliseum on Saturday, gearing up for Gulf South Conference play against Union at 4 pm in Clinton, Miss.
