TIGERVILLE, S.C. ---- Mississippi College fell on the road to North Greenville on Saturday afternoon, losing by a final score of 34-10 in GSC play.
In the first quarter, NGU's Corey Watkins led the scoring drive with a one-yard run, quickly putting them on the board. NGU's lead extended as Dylan Ramirez connected with Dre' Williams for a stunning 91-yard pass, leaving MC trailing 14-0 at the end of the first quarter.
MC answered in the second quarter as Marcus Williams delivered an impressive 61-yard run for a touchdown to make it 14-7. Later in the second quarter, Ben Pledger added three points with a 36-yard field goal, closing the gap to a 28-10 NGU lead. MC trailed 28-10 at the break.
The third quarter saw NGU's Colin Karhu adding a 33-yard field goal to their lead, making the score 31-10 before adding a final field goal in the fourth quarter to ultimately take the win 34-10.Â
Despite the loss, there were several standout performances from MC. Marcus Williams led the rushing game with 123 yards, including a spectacular 61-yard run for a touchdown. In the passing game, Cameron Davis completed 3 of 15 passes for 63 yards, with Veontai Williams being the top receiver with 33 yards.
Defensively, MC was led by Jason Betz, with nine tackles, including one sack. Grant Watts, finished with eight tackles while Kobe Graves, Zach Hammann and Braxton Hall each had five tackles.
The Choctaws are set to close out their home schedule on Saturday, November 4th for Senior Day versus West Florida. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m., providing an opportunity for fans to celebrate the senior players and cheer on their team one last time at home in 2023.
