CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College women's basketball team scored a season-high as it snapped a three-game slide with a 102-70 victory over Auburn University at Montgomery on Thursday, Jan. 26. The win improved the Choctaw to 5-15 on the season and 4-13 in Gulf South Conference action. AUM falls to 7-13 and 6-10 in league play.

The point total is the third most by a
Greg Long coached squad and the second most during his time in Clinton (108 v. MUW on Dec. 8, 2021).

Kyiah Julian and
Ava Knoedl each recorded 20-plus points in the contest. Julian notched 26 points – one shy of her career-high set earlier this season against Christian Brothers University on Jan. 12, 2023. The Greenwood, Ark., native hit four 3-pointers in the outing and moved to second in program history with 103 as she surpassed Randa Lee (2007-11).

Knoedl reset her season-high with 21 points. The Maumell, Ark., freshman's previous high was 15 points against the University of West Alabama on Dec. 9, 2022. She drained five treys in the affair. The team garnered 12 3-pointers in the game – a season-high. The previous best was 10 set at Shorter University on Dec. 16, 2022.

Danielle Tennant paced the team on the glass with seven rebounds as the team totaled a season-high 50 rebounds. The previous best for the squad was 48 against CBU (1.12.23). MC also gathered 44 boards against the Warhawks on their home floor.

MC shot 54.3 percent from the field, including a 50.0 clip from behind the arc, and shot 70.0 percent from the free-throw line.

The Blue and Gold never trailed as it scored the first five points of the game. AUM rallied from the early deficit and knotted the contest at 15-all with 2:24 left in the opening period. MC responded with an 11-2 run and took a 26-17 advantage. It marched the lead out to 49-29 at the intermission behind a 23-12 second quarter.

The Choctaw scored 20-plus points in all four quarters of the affair, including 33 points in the third period. That marks the most points in any quarter by a Long-led team. It surpassed the previous high of 28 points set against Southeastern Baptist College on Nov. 20, 2021.

AUM's Allasha Dudley led the team with 21 points while Jereriah Moore and Keeley Tini led the Orange and Black on the glass with five rebounds each. The visitors from the Yellowhammer State shot 34.3 percent from the floor and was held to 23.1 percent from the 3-point line. The squad was 19-for-22 from the free-throw line for 86.4 percent. The Warhawks collected 31 rebounds.

The win gave the Choctaw their fifth win in the series and its fourth in the last five outings.
