CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College women's basketball team fell 64-58 in Gulf South Conference action against the University of Montevallo on Saturday, Jan. 28 inside A.E. Wood Coliseum. MC moves to 5-16 and 4-14 in conference play while the Falcons improve to 9-13 and 9-9 in the league.

Ava Knoedl recorded double figures in the scoring column for the second consecutive game. The Maumelle, Ark., native posted a team-best 13 points to go along with five rebounds – also a team best matched by
Taylor Ben. Knoedl added 21 points in the Blue and Gold's win over Auburn University at Montgomery on Thursday evening.

Kyiah Julian chimed in nine points to finish second on the team in scoring. She moved closer to the program's 3-point record going 1-for-3 from behind the arc.

The Choctaw shot 38.8 percent from the field and was 17-of-24 from the free-throw line for a 70.8 clip. The squad also pulled down 33 rebounds.

UM held a 24-15 lead after the opening 10 minutes of play and grabbed a 42-33 lead at the break. It held its largest lead of the game during the second period as Anna Katherine Eastman scored on a layup with 4:21 left before the half.

The Falcons held as much as a 14-point lead during the third stanza, but the Blue and Gold chipped away and cut the margin to 51-48 with 20 ticks left before heading into the final period. Â MC used a 15-4 run during the final four-plus minutes of the quarter to narrow the lead. Five different Choctaw scored during the spurt led by Knoedl with a pair of 3-pointers.

Mya Bobo clipped the lead to a point early in the period as the Choctaw kept the game to within a possession until Marissa Snodgrass knocked down a second-chance, jumper with under two minutes to play to place the Falcons up 62-56. Snodgrass paced the Purple and Gold with 20 points.

Michaella Edwards missed out on a double-double with 10 points and nine boards. UM shot 33.9 percent from the floor and connected on 22-of-27 from the charity stripe for 81.5 percent. It also totaled 38 rebounds.

Mississippi College returns to action on Thursday, Feb. 2 as it travels to the Yellowhammer State. Tip-off at the University of West Alabama is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
