CARROLLTON, Ga. --- The Mississippi College baseball team fell 16-2 in the opening game of the three-game, Gulf South Conference series at the University of West Georgia on Friday, April 22.

The Choctaws (13-29, 7-18 GSC) managed six hits in the contest with multiple hit efforts from
Markarius Lee and
Derrek Lathon, Jr., as the duo logged two hits each. Lathon along with
Lance Wade notched a double.
CJ Berry added the lone other hit.

The Wolves (21-18, 10-14 GSC) used an eight-run, fourth inning to assist in capturing the victory. The Red and Blue plated runs in the five of the six frames in contest as it totaled 17 hits, including seven home runs. The run and hit total mark the second most by an opponent this season.

MC's runs came in the first trip to the plate. Berry drove in the first run of the contest with an RBI-single that pushed
Caleb Reese across the dish. Later in the frame, Lee swiped home to give the Navy and Gold its second run of the game. Berry stole second on the play.

UWG tied the contest in the bottom of the second and took its lead in the third as Davis Schwartz singled to push Jackson Webb across the plate. The home team scored three in the frame and never looked back.

Gavin LeBlanc (2-3) took the loss on the mound as he pitched 3.1 in the start. He allowed nine runs on eight hits with four strikeouts and a walk.
