MAGNOLIA, Ark. --- The Mississippi College baseball team dropped its midweek, non-conference outing at eighth-ranked Southern Arkansas University on Tuesday, April 19, 14-4.

Lance Wade led the lead as he collected two of the Choctaws' seven hits in the contest and drove in one of the four runs in the contest.
Lane Willis,
Tristan Tigrett and
Jackson Breedlove each notched an RBI during the outing.

MC jumped on the board first with a RBI single from Tigrett to score
Markarius Lee, however, the Mulriders tied the contest in the home half of the frame and then took lead in the top of the third as Tucker Burton scored on a wild pitch. Ty Manning followed with a solo home run – one of four for the 'Riders on the day - to give SAU a 3-1 advantage through three frames.

SAU pounded out three home runs in the fourth as it plated six runs in the frame to expand its lead to 9-3. Wade and Breedlove narrowed the margin 9-3 with RBI singles in the fifth, but the Muleriders answered with a run in the bottom half of the inning and added two more in the sixth to grab a 12-3 advantage.

The Choctaws plated their final run of the game in the top of the seventh as
Derrek Lathon, Jr., scored on a Willis sacrifice fly to left field.

Payton Russell (2-3) was saddled with the loss on the bump as he six runs – five earned – on seven hits in the contest. The senior hurler added five strikeouts along with three walks in 3.1 innings in the start. He was one of four hurlers to take the hill for the Navy and Gold in the game. The staff totaled 11 strikeouts in the contest, but allowed eight walks and were hampered by five errors in the contest.

Mississippi College returns to action on Friday, April 22 as it travels to Carrollton, Ga., for a three-game, Gulf South Conference series against the University of West Georgia. First pitch of Friday's single game is  5 p.m. central.
