HUNTSVILLE, Ala. --- Four-run, eighth inning sinks the Mississippi College baseball team's chance at the series-opening win at the University of Alabama in Huntsville as the Choctaws fall 4-2 on Friday, April 1. MC moves to 12-20 on the season and 6-10 in Gulf South Conference action. UAH improved to 13-19 and 6-9 inside the league.

The Navy and Gold plated its two runs in the fifth inning, breaking a scoreless deadlock, and held the lead through seven-and-a-half innings, but the Chargers rallied with four innings in their half of the eighth to take the lead and eventually win the game.

Tristan Tigrett scored on a
Lane Willis' sacrifice fly to open the scoring,
Caleb Reese delivered an RBI-single two batters later that plated
Jackson Breedlove. MC attempted to add more in the top of the eighth, but left two runners stranded. The Choctaws abandoned 10 total runners on base in the contest.

UAH sent 10 to the plate in the home half of the eighth, but managed just two hits in the frame, however it capitalized on three walks and an error to take the lead. Carson Villalta delivered the go-ahead hit with a two-RBI single through the right side. Jackson Lindsey became the final blow for the Blue and White as he scampered across the dish on an Austin Reed fielder's choice.

Brandon Gardner (0-1) took the loss on the mound as he allowed two runs on a walk in a third-of-an-inning in relief.
Jackson Bridges tossed seven frames and allowed two runs on the four hits with three walks and three strikeouts.
Brooks Warren pitched the final two-thirds of the eighth and surrendered a hit, walk and picked up a punch out.

Markarius Lee led the team with two hits as the Choctaws' amassed six total in the contest.

Mississippi College and UAH close out the weekend series on Saturday, April 2 with a doubleheader. First pitch is at 1 p.m. at Charger Park on the Huntsville campus.
