NEW ORLEANS – The Mississippi College indoor track and field teams placed 43 student-athletes on the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-South Region Team, as announced by the USTFCCCA on Tuesday, March 8.
The Choctaws were one of seven programs across the nation to haul in 40-plus members. The men's program placed 23 on the all-region list with 20 coming from the women's program.
Fabio Palmieri and
Tytavia Hardy headlined the two programs with four all-region nods each. Sixteen Choctaws garnered multiple all-region recognition.
The top-five individuals in each event from each region earn all-region distinction, in addition to each member of the region's top-three relay teams.
Hardy and
Hunter Kurz qualified and advance to the 2022 NCAA Division II National Championships in Pittsburg, Kan., March 11-12. The championships scheduled for the Harvey Dean Track on the campus of Pittsburg State University. Pittsburg State and Crawford County Convention and Visitors Bureau will serve as co-hosts of the championships. Hardy is set to compete in the women's 60-meter hurdles while Kurz competes in the men's mile.
