CLINTON, Miss. -- The Mississippi College tennis program took on Christian Brothers Saturday afternoon picking up the 7-0 sweep over the Buccaneers in Gulf South Conference play.
MC went ahead 1-0 with wins at #1 and #2 as
Carlos Trujillo and
Matias Ballatore defeated Seth Macute and Victor Fantaziu6-0 before Hsiang Yi Wang and
Brady McDaniel won 7-6 at #2 doubles.
In singles play, all six singles matches were claimed by the Choctaws with
Brady McDaniel defeating Javier Flores 6-2, 6-3.
Joe Jarvis won over Alonso Reid 6-1, 6-4 while Hsiang Yi Wang came up victorius at #3 singles with a win over Jojo Sandoz6-1, 6-2.
Carlos Trujillo defeated Alban Piranda6-2, 6-3 with
Matias Ballatore (7-6, 6-2) and
Walker Ellis (6-0, 6-2) rounding out singles play with wins at #5 and #6 singles.
MC improved to 1-4 overall and 1-2 in GSC play as the Choctaws return to action on March 12 with a road matchup at Auburn Montgomery. MC and AUM go head to head beginning at 10 a.m. in Montgomery, Ala.
