Avery Barnett's strong outing in the circle, 3-2.
In game one, Mississippi College finished with five hits as a team with five different batters tallying one hits a piece. The Choctaws, trailing 2-0 in the second inning, got a run across the board after a
Rayne Minor ground out to pitcher resulted
AnneMarie Peavy scoring to cut the lead to 2-1.
Lee went on to score nine unanswered runs over the next four innings, including seven runs in the sixth inning, to go on win game one by a final of 10-1 over MC.
In game two, MC put together eight hits and three runs in the contest, including two runs in the second inning on a
Brooke Fagan double to left field that scored both
Alexis Laughlin and
Carlon Brabham, as MC took a 2-0 lead.
In the fourth inning of the game,
Kamryn Eaton sent a solo shot over the left field wall, extending the Choctaws lead to 3-0. Lee chipped away at the lead, scoring one run in the sixth, before making things interesting in the seventh inning, adding a run in the final frame.
With runners at second and third and two outs in the seventh,
Avery Barnett forced a pop up to third base, as
Alexis Laughlin gloved it for the final out of the game in a 3-2 win over the Lady Flames.
Kamryn Eaton and
Carlon Brabham each collected two hits a piece in the game, including the solo home run by Eaton in the fourth inning. Fagan had one hit in game two with a team best two runs batted in.
Avery Barnett improved to 8-5 in the circle, going the full distance, on her way to striking out seven batters, while surrendering just two runs in the game.
MC improves to 13-11 overall on the season and 6-7 in Gulf South Conference play after game two's win over Lee. The Choctaws and Lady Flames return to action tomorrow afternoon for game three with first pitch set for 1 p.m. at the MC Softball Complex
