CLINTON, Miss. -- The Mississippi College softball team fell in the final game of this weekend's Gulf South Conference series by a final score of 2-0 to the Lee Lady Flames.
Neither team scored a run through the first four innings a play, yet in the fifth inning, Lee broke a scoreless tie, scoring two runs on a well hit ball to centerfield as Lee took a 2-0 lead.Â
Lee went on to hold Mississippi College for the remaining two innings of game three, as the Lady Flames went on to win by a final score of 2-0 and claim the series over the Choctaws, 2-1.
Avery Sanders was stellar in the circle for the Lady Choctaws, surrendering just to two runs on one hit, while striking out seven total batters.
Mississippi College finished with five total hits as a team including a multi hit game by Alexis Laughlin with two hits on the afternoon.
Mississippi College falls to 13-12 overall on the season and 6-8 in Gulf South Conference play.
The Choctaws return to action next weekend versus Valdosta State at home beginning on Saturday with doubleheader action starting at 1 p.m.
