MONTGOMERY, Ala. --- The Mississippi College baseball team fell 9-4 in the Gulf South Conference series finale at Auburn University at Montgomery. MC moved to 7-15 on the season and 3-6 conference play. AUM improved to 15-9 and 5-4 in the league.

It's the first time the Navy and Gold have been swept since Apr. 26, 2021 as it dropped all three contests at Lee University.

The Choctaws recorded RBI hits from
Cody Crifasi,
Lance Wade and
Tristan Tigrett in the outing on Monday afternoon. Crifasi got the scoring started with a two-run, single to left field to knot the contest at 2-all through the top of the fourth.

After AUM regained the lead in home half of the fourth, Wade recorded his first home run of the season in the top of the fifth to pull the Choctaws to within a run, 4-3. However, the Warhawks answered with a pair of two-RBI frames in the fifth and seventh with a Zaxh Drew, RBI-single sandwiched in-between. Drew also blasted a two-run home run in the fifth.

Tigrett concluded the scoring in the top of the eighth with a solo home run. He matched Wade with his first of the season.

Jackson Bridges (3-1) suffered his first setback of the season. He allowed six runs – five earned – on nine hits. He fanned three and walked one in the start.
Brooks Warren tossed pitched two innings in relief as he gave up three runs on five hits.
Jackson Smith tossed the final frame as he threw a combined five pitches to the three batters he faced.

Clay Slagle (3-3) picked up the win on the bump for AUM. He allowed three of the four MC runs on eight hits in five innings.

Zach Feaster paced the squad at the plate as he was one of four AUM hitters with multiple hits on the day as he logged a team-best three hits. Clayton Phillips and Dew each drove in a team-leading three runs.

Caleb Reese led the Choctaws at the dish with three hits. Crifasi and Tigrett joined the Bossier City, La., native with multiple-hit performances as Crifasi notched a team-leading two RBI.

Mississippi College returns to action on Tuesday, March 15 as it travels to Arkadelphia, Ark., for its fourth game in three days. First pitch at Henderson State University is set for 5 p.m.
