RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. --- The Mississippi College baseball team dropped a 9-3 contest at 19th-ranked Arkansas Tech University on Tuesday, Feb. 8. MC moved to 1-3 on the season while the Wonder Boys improved to 2-0 on the campaign.

Caleb Reese led the offensive charge as he collected three of the Choctaws' eight hits.

Cody Crifasi each notched a hit. Crifasi and Lee each drove in a run.

Lance Wade (0-1) took the on the bump as he allowed eight runs on 10 hits in 4.2 innings, but fanned seven. The right-hander was one of five hurlers to take the hill for the Choctaws in the setback.

ATU held a 6-0 lead before the Navy and Gold cracked the scoreboard in the top of the fifth. Willis scored on a Crifasi sacrifice fly to center. The Green and Gold responded with two runs in the home half of the inning to expand its advantage to 8-1.

Reese became the Choctaws' second run of the game as he stole third and then took home on a throwing error by ATU's Carter Thessing. MC's final blow came in the top of the seventh as Lee drove in Crifasi with a single up the middle.

The Wonder Boys had five players with multiple hits as the unit totaled 14 on the afternoon as Kandon Bennett and Shelby Quiggins each notched mult0-RBI efforts.

Shane Scott (1-0) received the win on the hill as he held the Choctaws to one run on four hits with three strikeouts in 4.1 innings.

Mississippi College returns to action this weekend as it travels to Young Harris, Ga., to face the Mountain Lions. The three-game series is set to begin on Saturday, Feb. 12 with a doubleheader and the series finale scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 13. First pitch is set for 1 p.m. central both dates.
