GULF SHORES, Ala. -- The Mississippi College softball team dropped two contests Sunday morning on the second day at the Gulf Shores Invitational, falling to Nova Southeastern by a final of 6-3 in game one and 6-5 to Columbus State in game two.

In game one Sunday morning, NSU got things started off in the second inning, scoring three runs with the help of an RBI single by NSU Rayleigh Langwell to give Nova the 3-0 lead.
Nova added three more runs in the bottom half of the third inning, extending their lead out to 6-0 through the first three. innings of play. MC crossed the plate for the first time in the contest in the sixth inning after a
Mallory Little single scored AnneMarie Peavy to pull MC within five runs.
In the seventh inning, trailing 6-1,
Kamryn Eaton went yard with a two run home run, scoring
Jaycee Dill, cut the Nova lead down to 6-3. Despite scoring three runs in the final two innings, MC came up short, falling to Nova by a final of 6-3.
Mississippi College outhit Nova 9-8, in Sunday's loss while being led by
McCall Lee and AnneMarie Peavy with two hits each. Eaton, Peavy, and Dill each added one run on the morning, including the two run home run by Eaton in the seventh inning.

GAME TWO | COLUMBUS STATE 6 | MISSISSIPPI COLLEGE 5
Knotted at 0-0 in the fifth inning of action in game two, Columbus State put up a six spot in the 5th inning with the help of two RBI singles and a grand slam by Hannah Rose Corbin to help aid Columbus State in gaining a 6-0 advantage over the Choctaws.
MC had other answers, stacking claim to their very own big inning in the top of the sixth, scoring four runs to cut the lead down to 6-4. MC scored four runs with the help of a throwing error, two RBI singles by
Mallory Little and
Jordan LaFosse.
Trailing by two with the final three outs remaining, a sac fly by
Carlon Brabham scored
Brooke Fagan from third to trim the deficit to one run. Columbus State forced a pop up to left field the very next at bat as they would glove it for the final out of the contest to pull of the 6-5 win in the final game at the Gulf Shores Invitational.
For the second game in a row, MC outhit their opponent in the loss, with eight hits compared to four hits by the Cougars. MC had three players with a multiple hit game, led by
Carlon Brabham (2),
Jenna Ergle (2), and
Jordan LaFosse (2). Brabham led MC with a team best two runs batted in after going 2-for-4 at the plate.
