HUNTSVILLE, Ala. -- Mississippi College lost a thriller on Friday evening in the first game of this weekend's Charger Chillout, falling to Carson-Newman by a final score of 9-8 in 10 innings.
MC got things started off quickly with one run in the second inning and three more in the third inning, with the help of an Annemarie two-run homer run, as the Choctaws grabbed the 4-0 lead.Â
In the bottom of the third inning, a Carson Newman double to right field allowed three runners to cross the plate, as CN cut the Choctaws lead to 4-3. The Lady Eagles tied to game up at 4-4 in the fifth inning with a single down the left field line.
Tied at 1-1,
Kamryn Eaton sent a 1-1 fastball over the center field wall to put MC back on top 5-4 in the sixth inning. In the seventh inning the Eagles tied the contest up at 5-5, forcing extra innings on night one in Huntsville.Â

Mallory Little broke a 5-5 tie with a triple down the left field line, scoring
Jordan LaFosse and
Bailee Avants to regain the lead 7-5.
Once again, in the bottom half of the eighth inning, CN put together an inning that would force more innings, scoring two runs to tie it back up at 7-7.
A
Brooke Fagan bunt back to the pitcher resulted in an RBI single, giving MC the 8-7 advantage. CN would get out of the inning, trailing 8-7 needing a run to keep the game alive. \
Carson Newman scored the tying run in the bottom half of the night inning on an MC throwing error, once again forcing extra innings with the score knotted at 8-8.
After holding MC scoreless in the top half of the tenth inning, the Eagles delivered a 2-1 single to left field, scoring the winning run, as Carson-Newman won the extra inning thriller by a final of 9-8.
MC was finished with nine hits on the night, including three batters with multiple hit outings.
Mallory Little,
Kamryn Eaton, and
Brooke Fagan each tallied two hits on the night, including a game high three runs batted in by Little.
Eaton had a team best two runs scored, including the two-run home run in the sixth inning. Eatomn also collected one triple on the night along with Little. Peavy went 1-for-5 on the night with a two-run Home Run in the third inning.
MC fell to 2-3 overall with the loss, yet will look to get back in the win column tomorrow morning when they take on Tuskegee with first pitch set for 10:30 a.m. in Huntsville, Ala.
